Ernest Haas - Route 66

hydeordie:

Ernst Haas Route 66, Albuquerque, New Mexico 1959

Sometimes I think about my art collection and what it will be one day and what I will ever be able to afford and what I can’t. I think I need to start looking into more photography as not just affordable, but really interesting focus.

Sometimes I think of all the photos I worked so hard to make that no one will ever see. Sure, there’s a lot to be found in the archives of this very blog… and if I’m very lucky they’ve been blips other people have seen.

Then I look at other people I know who had no intention of being photographers who get thousands of likes and follows and recognition du jour for taking the same over filtered photos of country-like faux quaintness. Pictures that are shared and swapped and pinned and oohed and ahhed over. Becoming aspirations of the people who are already living that life. They talk about their awesome photo shoots and what a fun hobby it is.

I shouldn’t be jealous. I should be happy for them. And grateful that there is room for all of us.

And yet…
